It is one of the duties of the Char caste to deliver speeches to the Nation, to speak of the history and life of the Cheltians and articulate the wisdom of ages. Every Char is entitled to adopt their own style, lyrical or legal, poetic or perfunctory. This is one of the more rousing sermons of the Char, from the mouth of Char Call Loud Waterfall.
I speak of the Castes and their role in our Nation.
The Nation is a Man, made up of a body and a soul. Parts of the body work the land, carry the body, bear the weight. Other parts provide the intelligence we need to survive. All parts of the body work together in completely harmony, without rebellion, and without resistance. Would a man's left arm rebel against his right? So it should be in the Nation.
Each part could not function without the others. We are all reliant on each other for progress, for survival. The Barr and Char need the Shirn, even the Lell, to feed and arm them, just as the Shirn and Lell need the Barr and Char to protect and guide them. There is no greater love a man has, than for himself. Every part of the body thinks of itself as integral with the other parts, just as every Cheltian should love his fellow instinctually.
Before, there was darkness. We were below Nell, between two peaks. Now our Nation has formed a structure, the body of the Cheltians stands tall and makes its first steps on its long journey. It is a journey that is longer than any of our individual lives, and not even the wisest know where it shall lead us. Use your hands for your work, listen to the words of the elders, respect the Nation, and look forward to the future.
